When you come to our clinic for to replace a missing or extracted tooth, our dentists will provide you different options, depending on your unique case. You do not have to continue living with a gap in your dental framework due to a missing or lost tooth. There are effective solutions available to you, and you will receive sufficient information that will help you make an informed decision. Two of the options that are available when replacing a lost or missing tooth are removable or fixed implant dentures.
What are Fixed Implant Dentures
These are permanent solutions for your lost or missing tooth. They are sometimes called Screw-ins, because our dentist will screw them into your gums, and they will therefore behave like your natural teeth. You will be removing them for cleaning, or put them in water right beside your bed every night. It is common even to see some patients forgetting that they have fixed dentures at all!
If you do not have enough bone tissue to support the fixed implant dentures, our dentist can recommend a bone graft surgery procedure. This will provide you with enough gum tissue required to support the screw-in implant dentures.
Removable Implant Dentures
These are dentures that have both features of a conventional denture and a fixed implant denture. Therefore, as a patient, you will enjoy the advantages of the fixed implant dentures, but also contend with the disadvantages of the conventional denture.
You will not have to put up with messy adhesives, but at the same time, you will have to frequently remove them for cleaning and when going to sleep. In the morning you snap them on.
Which is the best?
Whether you choose fixed or removable implant dentures will depend on the treatment goal, dental need and an open and candid consultation with our dentist. For instance, you might prefer a fixed implant denture, only to find that you do not have enough bone tissue to support it.
When you visit our experts, you will have an examination to determine which is the right option for you. You can also call us if you need further information about removable or fixed implant dentures.
